The draft Australian Standards Handbook HB:188 ‘Physical protective security controls for buildings’ closes for public comment 5 May 2020.
The Handbook by Standards Australia (SA) provides guidance to building risk owners to determine the most appropriate assessment process, treatment and controls to protect a building from physical destruction and damage caused by acts of extreme violence.
This Handbook is structured with the following sections which correspond to the recommended risk management process described in AS ISO 31000:
- Identification of physical threats.
- Risk assessment of threats.
- Risk treatment.
- Controls.
- Evaluation and monitoring.
Please feel free to notify any relevant stakeholders and individual experts who may wish to provide their feedback on the draft.
Please note that no late comments will be accepted for review, however they will be recorded and reviewed in the event of a future revision of this Handbook.
