The UK Government 2023 edition of their National Risk Register (NRR) is available.

The NRR is designed for a broad range of risk and resilience practitioners and sectors including business, critical infrastructure operators, voluntary and community organisations and academia.

The publication is based directly on the internal and classified National Security Risk Register used within government and local resilience forums. It is not aimed at the general public.

The NRR considers a broad and diverse range of risks including threats to lives, health and safety, critical infrastructure, economy, and sovereignty. It covers about 89 malicious and non-malicious risks within 9 risk themes. Several risks could be categorised under more than one theme.

For security practitioners and researchers, the sections on terrorism and cyber should be of particular interest. For example, the NRR may assist the thinking that drives planning to protect venues and public spaces against terrorist attacks.

Please contact us should you wish to be involved in a Virtual Roundtable (Chatam House Rules) to share thoughts on the NRR, such as local relevance and potential local application outside of the UK.
