Standards Australia has published Handbook HB 188:2021 ‘Physical Protective Security Controls for Buildings’.

The intention of the Handbook is the reduction of physical damage potential to buildings from deliberate acts of violence, as well as mitigating the associated impact on building core functions.

This Handbook provides guidance to manage these risks to buildings, including commercial, industrial, and largescale residential strata property.

Guidance is provided to identify and assess relevant sources of building risk associated with threat sources (especially terrorism, civil commotion, and malicious damage) and implementing suitable controls to mitigate the likelihood and consequences related to these threat sources.
